When a student attends dental school, he spends several years learning how to perform procedures in every aspect of the profession.  When Dr. Heiner became an orthodontic specialist, he spent an additional two years focusing solely on orthodontics.  He was awarded five top awards given by his school at the conclusion of his training.  He is not only gifted in the area of dexterity but has an aesthetic vision of how people’s profiles and facial symmetry should end up, in addition to addressing functional needs.   The entire team is well-trained in orthodontics and currently has a combined total of 215 years of experience in the field. 

BOARD CERTIFICATION

After completing his specialty work, Dr. Heiner wanted to provide the best possible treatment for his patients.  So he embarked upon the multi-phase, multi-year goal of becoming board certified.  He tracked many innovative cases he monitored over several years and presented his research to national adjudicators. 

REPUTATION

Our office has had many people come in who have seen total strangers with beautiful teeth and asked them where they were treated.  Some have even come into our office and asked for “The Heiner Smile” by name.  We are aware of teachers who have asked their students where they “got their braces” and then brought their own children in to be treated.  One of the more creative approaches we heard about was a savvy consumer who contacted an x-ray lab, pointed out that the technician saw different providers’ before and after  orthodontic photos, and asked who achieved the best results.  The reply was, “Dr. Heiner’s office.”  We are honored to know that our practice has grown by referrals, the highest compliment we can receive.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Dr. Heiner attends orthodontic meetings around the world to keep up on the latest developments in the field.  In addition, he regularly peruses professional journals and listens to current lectures in his car each day as he drives to and from work.  He truly loves the field of orthodontics!

IN-HOUSE RECORDS

Our in-house lab and x-ray center provide greater efficiency and quality control.  All of our imaging is digital, which not only lessens undue exposure to radiation but aids in rendering an immediate and improved diagnosis.  By utilizing this contemporary process, we can communicate with our patients and their general dentists easily and whenever necessary.

COMPASSION

Most of our team members have had or are currently in orthodontic treatment, so they understand and can empathize with the process.  Knowing someone has “been there” can encourage others to overcome minor discomfort or discouragement.

LOWER EXTRACTION RATE

The benefit of seeing patients at a young age for their first orthodontic examination allows us to guide treatment and preserve arch length rather than correcting it later.  That means that we are able to keep more patients’ natural teeth and avoid extractions 93% of the time.

OPEN/INVITING OFFICE

We welcome parents, guardians, grandparents….anyone who brings patients to the office for their appointments….into our treatment area.  We are more than willing to have those accompanying the patients watch the procedures, and are always available to answer all questions anyone may have.

Besides getting the job well done, Dr. Heiner and his staff love to have fun.  They have been known to dress up in zany costumes, pull crazy pranks, help  shyer patients feel special (one patient who had severe disabilities spoke her first words to anyone other than her parents at Dr. Heiner’s office) and spread their cheerful enthusiasm to everyone.  Besides providing professional attention to each patient on each visit, the office goal is to make the time spent with us a pleasurable event.  In addition to being friendly, knowledgeable, committed and enthusiastic about helping our patients maximize their aesthetic and functional dental health, we offer many contests to enhance the orthodontic experience.

CLEANLINESS AND SAFETY

We employ meticulous sterilization methods because we care about your health.  Infection control measures are routinely followed, including the use of disposable items whenever possible.  All of our instruments are autoclaved after each use and all of our solid surfaces are disinfected in compliance with OSHA standards.  We update our knowledge about infection control and OSHA regulations at regularly scheduled meetings. 

LOCATION/PARKING

We are easy to find on the SE corner of the Oakdale Road/Briggsmore Avenue intersection.  Our office has 38 dedicated parking spaces, so it’s great not to have to circle to find a parking place.

STAGGERED APPOINTMENT HOURS

We respect patients’ appointment times and are sensitive to varying needs.  So we have two days where we open early if patients want to come in before work or school, and two days of longer, after-school appointment opportunities.
